2024 Gartner® Critical Capabilities for SOAPs: Redwood ranks first in 3 Use Cases
A message from Kevin Greene, Redwood Software CEO
Last month, I had the honor of announcing that Gartner named Redwood Software a Leader, positioned furthest in Completeness of Vision, in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for Service Orchestration and Automation Platforms (SOAPs) report.
Now, I’m excited to share that Redwood Software was ranked first in three and tied for a fourth out of five Use Cases in the 2024 Gartner Critical Capabilities for SOAP report.
I believe this additional recognition from Gartner underscores the demonstrated impact of Redwood’s automation fabric solutions that successfully orchestrate IT and business processes across a wide range of use cases.
Redwood’s recognition in the Gartner Critical Capabilities report
In this follow-up report, Gartner expands upon the Magic Quadrant™ for SOAPs with a detailed explanation of how SOAP providers were evaluated. It provides those considering a SOAP solution with deep insights into workload automation offerings and applications.
The Critical Capabilities report includes rankings for five Use Cases: IT Workload Automation, IT Workflow Orchestration, Citizen Automation, Data Orchestration and DevOps Automation.
Redwood ranked first in three of the five Use Cases, tied for highest score in one and tied for second-highest score in the last.
IT workload automation
Redwood received the highest score in this Use Case: 4.10 out of 5.
Gartner defines IT workload automation (IT operations persona) as follows: “The platform is used to plan, define, execute, manage and report on automating IT workloads spanning enterprise systems under the management of an IT organization.”
We believe this ranking reflects the ability of Redwood’s workload automation solutions to extend the power of IT teams by running mission-critical processes across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments with the lowest level of effort. Dynamic workload balancing ensures that all resources work together to keep processes intact. With built-in connectors and open APIs, Redwood offers the flexibility to connect to any tech stack today and tomorrow.
IT workflow orchestration
Redwood received the highest score in this Use Case: 4.05 out of 5.
Gartner defines IT workflow orchestration (IT operations persona) as follows: “The platform is used to define, codify, execute and report on IT workflow execution across IT and enterprise systems under the management of an IT organization.”
We believe this score highlights how Redwood solutions enable users to compose automations with extensive reusable job steps and pre-built templates. Intelligent exception handling and automatic recovery provide continuity for complex, end-to-end processes.
Citizen automation
Redwood received the highest score in this Use Case: 4.08 out of 5.
Gartner defines citizen automation (business user persona) as follows: “The platform is used to enable end-user automation development and execution of curated workloads and workflows, governed by the IT organization.”
We feel this score represents how easy it is for business users to build automations using Redwood solutions. Intuitive, low-code/no-code interfaces, wizards and toolkits streamline automation design and development to accommodate the needs of various business functions.
DevOps automation
Redwood tied for the highest score in this Use Case, receiving 4.08 out of 5.
Gartner defines DevOps automation (DevOps/SRE persona) as follows: “The platform is used to develop and test workload and workflows in support of product delivery through DevOps tools and practices.”
We believe this recognition demonstrates the out-of-the-box capabilities of Redwood solutions to drive continuous delivery with CI/CD pipeline, object management and test automation tools. Advanced rule management, version control and more developer-friendly features enable real-time visibility and improved efficiency.
Data orchestration
Redwood tied for second-highest score in this Use Case, receiving 4.05 out of 5.
Gartner defines data orchestration (DataOps persona) as follows: “The platform is used to plan, define, execute, manage and report on data-focused workloads that include data functions (e.g., ETL/ELT, data load, reporting) focused on data use cases.”
We feel that Redwood’s score in this Use Case shows how our solutions help enterprises adapt to growing data volume and complexity with adaptive workflow tools, extensive data-focused integrations and hybrid-ready architectures.
